Hope House Rescued Kids

This is a small, family-style children’s home that gives hope to rescued children. Many of which were once trafficked or have undergone extreme sexual abuse or exploitation. Also, many have a physical or intellectual disability. Some disabilities are due to the abuse they received before their rescue. If we cannot meet the special needs of a certain child or they are not a good long-term fit with the other kids at Hope House, we place them in the home of a partner ministry. We continue to track their well being even after we place them elsewhere.

Many do not understand children with disabilities and many cultures undervalue them. Some even consider them a curse. But every life has value! And we believe physical, emotional, and spiritual restoration is possible, even for those with greater disabilities.

Hope House provides the necessary counseling, education, medical, and daily-care needs. Our goal is to bring freedom and healing so each child can be redefined in his or her God-given identity and purpose.

On-going support is necessary for our rescued kids that live at Hope House, because it’s not safe to place them back with their families. Basic needs must be met such as food, shelter, clothes, shoes, dental and medical appointments, caretakers, and more. Our goal is to help with these expenses and beyond. At least twice per year we pay for them to have a special time such as a water park followed by pizza or bringing in dinner for the kids and caretakers.

Education Sponsorships

As we build relationships with families in marginal communities, we meet scores of children not in school. Public education is free in Cambodia, but most families living in poverty cannot afford uniforms, school supplies, and tutors (required for passing tests). Likewise, many of these families require their children to work long days begging, collecting recyclables, or scavenging to earn money for the family. These children easily become victims of abuse, exploitation and trafficking, or end up in gangs or addicted to drugs.

Poverty is a major cause of human trafficking because it compels many desperate parents or family members to sell their children. That poverty also feeds corrupt behaviors like thieving, gambling, drug use, and prostitution. The lack of education and training perpetuates poverty.

Education opens minds to possibilities and windows to opportunity, and is the best way to protect children. That’s why poor, at-risk communities need education assistance.

Everlasting Love

Poverty traps many in Southeast Asia, especially women, because they lack job skills and an education. With so few options, they can easily fall prey to exploitation, trafficking, and prostitution. Without help, there is no way out.

Everlasting Love (EL) is a social enterprise and training program that provides hope and a way out. Those accepted into the program (our main criteria is that they were once trafficked or prostituted) learn job and sewing skills in their first year of training. We also mentor them in life skills and disciple them to understand their value in God’s eyes. After training, they become paid employees handcrafting EL products, thus empowering them economically. Ongoing holistic transformation and healing frees these women from bondage, enabling them to become agents of change in their communities, as well as break cycles of poverty and exploitation for others.

If a woman in training has children, we provide safe, onsite daycare to keep them close to mom while she learns. Kids older than 6 are eligible to enroll in our Education Empowerment Program, which provides the support they need to attend school. Education provides another way to break cycles of poverty that lead to exploitation.
